Warped and unusable

Item arrived warped to the point at the clip on the lid would not close and the Fire HD8 no longer fit.
Completely unusable.

2 stars for the AC Adapter

We are very sorry that your mount arrived like that. If you reach out to us via support@makesbymike.com we can discuss replacement. In these very hot summer months sometimes a package will sit in heat during transport and warp the mount. We will take care of that for you if you let us know via support.

BUYER BEWARE: Specialize this order to have the ability to "charge" the tablet.

I'm giving this 2 stars, despite thinking the quality isn't that bad (at all), simply because the default option gives you a wall-mount with a camera and volume control cut-out, but no power USB-C cut-out. Not only is this a horrible design flaw, but it completely made me look at how I ordered it. In order to obtain this, it's a required "additional cost". This should be default.

Additional complaints:
- Mounting is unorthodox but it works if you understand some basic electrical, or can become a little creative.
- Plastic is flimsy, and could easily be bent. This isn't a fault of this being 3D printed, but simply being a little too thin.
- Minimal holding for the "tablet" when putting the front piece on. Although this was very noticeable in the pictures, I thought it may have come with some sort of internal support or rest piece, it didn't. If there was some sort of sticky thin adhesive that held the tablet there as the cover slides on, it would have made the first install easier (I've had to remove this 6 times since I installed it).

For the overall review; If there was a charging hole already available, I'd rate this a solid 4 out of 5 stars. My only complaint then would be the thin walls and lack of any sort of support for the tablet.
The pressure fitting is unique, and worked pretty well.
To circumvent the power issue, I simply fed the power from an external receptacle that was aside it, and cut a hole for the USB outlet.

Feedback for Mike: Maybe sell this modified version for $45 - $50 and call it even; I'll be the first buyer of it if you decide to do this.
- Make the back plate thicker, and run a "trace" for a standard USB-C Cables (The OEM ones received per each device sold).
- Add a default slot with USB Power for "external power" users of the product, but also keep the channel available inside.
- Add a thin "double sided table" adhesive embedded to a small 2-inch x 2-inch patch for the Tablet to stick to as you're snapping in the front face.
- Add a couple "clip" like notches at the four corners and in the center of the two longer sides.

Didn't work out well for me

It was a bit of a disaster. shipping to canada was expensive and dealing with UPS or fedex was a pain. i should have used USPS.

But the big issue is that the kindle stopped charging after two days use. i finally diagnosed it to the 120v to 5vdc converter that was provided. When i plugged it in the wall with the Amazon supplied adapter and cable it charged quickly.

Maybe it didnt like my automation turning it off and on by way of a smart plug at 80 percent and 35 percent. The automation worked perfectly, checked for the entity state and with a voltmeter.

Anyway reconfigured the charging method taking out that module and it now works fine.
